Two Powerful Electric Motors

Twin electric motors and a highly efficient petrol engine optimise performance according to your driving. Separately mounted motors at the front and rear axles deliver incredible responsive AWD performance with S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) ensuring excellent driving stability and intuitive, linear handling. Smooth, quiet, comfort with abundant power to tackle off-road terrain with highly efficient purpose.

Charging the Outlander PHEV

With a complete charge taking just 9.8KWh* of electricity and an EV range of up to 53 kilometres, the Outlander PHEV can run on its EV battery for a fraction of the cost of conventional petrol or diesel.

* Outlander Full Charge: The amount of energy required to charge will vary and is affected by a number of factors, including ambient temperature and the traction battery’s current state of charge.

When driving in EV (all electric) mode, Outlander PHEV’s innovative design allows it to run as an electric vehicle. You’ll experience zero fuel consumption and zero CO2 emissions, while enjoying a serene, quiet ride without loss of performance.

The highly efficient 2.0 litre petrol engine charges the battery while the battery powers the wheels.

The petrol engine takes over for high speed motoring, longer journeys or steep hills.

Charge & Save

You can choose how and when the battery is used with the touch of a button. When the engine is engaged, the Battery Charge mode continuously charges the battery. In Battery Save mode the engine will maintain the charge you have, allowing you to save the battery charge for later.

Regenerative Braking

Kinetic energy which is generated whilst braking is also used to recharge the drive battery. As soon as the accelerator pedal is released the motors function as power generators. Six** levels of regenerative braking can be selected via paddles mounted within fingertip reach of the steering wheel.

Electric Park Brake & Brake Auto Hold

A pull up to apply/push down to release switch replaces the traditional handbrake lever. The Brake Auto Hold function makes stop/start driving in heavy traffic easier, by avoiding the need to keep your foot on the brake pedal while stationary.

Remotely Innovative

A free app for your Smartphone (Android or Apple)# lets you remotely control your Outlander PHEV Exceed from the comfort of your home. You can monitor the remaining charge time, control the charging timer settings, check the alarm, turn on/off the parking and headlights, and even turn on the heater or air conditioning or set if for later, all from the comfort of your living room.

The premium leather four-spoke steering wheel features paddle shifts and Bluetooth® phone connectivity, audio and cruise control switches for convenience and safety.

Joystick Selector

The gearshift selector always returns to the centre position like a joystick. The D-position provides pleasant driving performance in accordance with acceleration pedal operation. The B-position increases regenerative braking and provides two strength settings.

Smartphone Link Display Audio

Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA)^ is a true extension of your smartphone via Android Auto™¹ or Apple CarPlay². Connected to Outlander PHEV’s 7” touch screen, you can access your phone’s compatible apps, get directions, make calls, send and receive messages and listen to music from any source including DAB radio.

Front* & Reverse Sensors and Reverse Camera

All PHEV models feature reverse camera and rear parking sensors. When reverse gear is engaged, the reverse camera image appears automatically in the dash and sensors warn you if you’re getting too close to objects behind you. Exceed models also feature the convenience of front parking sensors*.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

The Outlander PHEV Exceed’s Lane Departure Warning uses a camera to issue an audible alert and shows a warning on the multifunction display if your vehicle drifts from its lane while the turn signals are not operating.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)*

Outlander PHEV Exceed’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert system helps detect a moving vehicle when reversing. It alerts you via a buzzer sound, and an indicator light appearing in the combination meter and a blinking light in the side door mirror.   

*Exceed model only. Please drive safely and do not rely solely on this system, which may not detect all moving vehicles in certain conditions. Drivers are fully responsible for their own safe driving.

Auto High Beam

The Outlander PHEV Exceed features automatic high-beam for added safety, comfort and driving ease at night. It detects both the headlights of oncoming vehicles and the tail lights of vehicles ahead, automatically switching between high and low beams.

Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Lane Change Assist (LCA) Systems3

Change lanes with confidence with the Outlander PHEV’s Blind Spot Warning system. In addition, the Lane Change Assist system sounds an audible alert and displays a blinking warning in the door mirror when the system detects a high collision probability with a vehicle coming from behind moving to the same direction within 3.5m from PHEV’s side or 70m from its rear bumper.

Multi Around Monitor*

Outlander PHEV Exceed’s Multi Around Monitor provides a 360° bird’s-eye view of your car. The views from cameras mounted on the front, rear and sides of the vehicle (including bird’s-eye view) can be displayed in various combinations to reveal what is in blind spots and help you park more safely.

^ Smartphone Link Display Audio will not operate in areas with no service signal and may not operate in supported areas where the signal is weak. Users are responsible for all charges incurred using smartphones and iPhones2 to connect to Android Auto™1 and CarPlay2 respectively. Please read the operation manual carefully and be aware of these limitations. It operates when a vehicle is in a rear, right or left blind spot and is not designed to detect motorcycles or pedestrians, but may detect them and activate in some situations.
