SA Minister for Tourism, Recreation and Sport gets behind the wheel of a new Outlander PHEV

South Australia’s Tourism, Recreation and Sport Minister, Leon Bignell picked up the keys to his new car, a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and will now be driving the latest in lean, green electric vehicle technology.

Outlander PHEV

The Outlander PHEV is Australia’s best-selling electric vehicle and was recently updated this month with a revised design, new technology, increased refinement and additional fast charging flexibility.

The Outlander PHEV – which stands for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle – boasts combined fuel efficiency of just 1.7-litres per 100 kilometres* – the lowest official ADR fuel consumption figure of any SUV sold in Australia.

Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Australia, was on hand to congratulate Minister Bignell when he collected the keys to his new car.

“We are pleased that Mr Bignell has chosen the Outlander PHEV as his car, as its highly efficient electric vehicle system and long range capability make it the perfect combination for owners who want a driving experience without compromises,” Mr Oshikiri said.

Minister Leon Bignell said, “With our State’s ambition to be carbon neutral we all need to play our part and I do a lot of driving around my electorate and the State, this is the perfect vehicle.

“On Kangaroo Island there are eleven electric car recharging stations and I think we will see more around SA in the near future.

“Mitsubishi has its Australian headquarters at Tonsley Park in Adelaide and directly employs 135 and over 270 staff indirectly through its South Australian dealer network.

“The vehicle has plenty of power on the open road and delivers savings in terms of fuel consumption thanks to its clever hybrid electric system,” said Minister Bignell.
