According to official VFACTS figures published today, Mitsubishi’s SUV range led the sales charge this month with the ASX outperforming all - taking the title of the best-selling small SUV in the market for 2017 with 19,403 units sold.
In the medium SUV segment, the Outlander had a record December sales of 1,486 units a 31.5% lift over the 2016 December result.
The Pajero Sport achieved its highest monthly total with 1,164 sold in December, the highest sales on record and an almost 40% lift in volume on December 2016.
The ever-popular Triton 4x4 continued to sell strongly with the sales growing over 14% on 2016, boosted by a strong December sales result of 2,462.
Mitsubishi Motors Australia’s COO, Tony Principe, said it was a strong month to finish off a good calendar year for the brand.
“We’ve worked hard to position our SUV and LCV range in a very competitive market this year and the strong finish to the year reflects the successful outcome of this work.
“We were particularly pleased with our record December sales which were a 33.6% lift on December 2016 giving us a market share of 8.8% and fourth position in the overall market.
“Looking ahead, we will have the first full month of sales of the all-new Eclipse Cross in January which will be a welcome addition to our successful SUV product line-up,” said Mr Principe.
